Home 9 Young Adults Ministry

The goal of the Young Adults Ministry made up of persons in their late teens, college students, and others in their twenties to assist this age group to become spiritual people by developing a holistic and healthy understanding of life as they deepen their relationship with God.

“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” Timothy 4:12

Romans 12:2 teaches us about conforming to this world, being transformed, and discerning God’s will. This is a challenge for all Christians, but it may be especially challenging for young adults. At this age, the world is encouraging us to “let loose” and “live it up.” But God’s Word teaches us to view life on this earth in a very different way; in fact, this life is not about us at all, but about Him (Romans 12:1).

The Young Adult Ministry (YAM) is for White Rock members ages 18-35. Fellowship is a focus for YAM, since we know that fellowship is an essential aspect of worship and of this Christian walk (Matthew 18:20). We find that developing these relationships with our brothers and sisters in Christ, who are also experiencing some of the same challenges, provides us with love, support – and accountability.

Other themes that often come up within the Young Adult Ministry include:

  • Becoming more bold in our faith
  • Service
  • God’s Word
  • God’s purpose
  • Some of our activities include monthly YAM Sheepfold meetings (2nd or 3rd Sunday), monthly Core group meetings, and our annual Young Adult Retreat.

Our core group consists of Courtney Fields and Malcolm Cook. We are so excited about all that God is doing through this ministry and we encourage all young adults to prayerfully consider joining this ministry as we continue to grow. If you are interested in joining the ministry or core group, please contact any of the core group members, or click this link to email them.
