Scripture teaches us that “a righteous person’s prayer is powerful and effective.” Every week, our prayer warriors actively go to God in prayer for our worship gatherings and for each person who is present. Through the power of the Spirit, we work together to make prayer a life-changing and sustaining part of our lives. Join us for our weekly prayer services:
Noonday Prayer and Bible Study is each Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. in the Moore-Kennedy classroom.

Ministry of Prayer prayer meeting is each Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Stay for Bible Study at 7:00 p.m.
Come to have your individual prayer time in the sanctuary during our Sunday morning prayer time at 8:00 a.m., before Sunday School. Make requests with a focus on the Spirit manifesting powerfully in worship – bless with salvation, strength, healing, peace, and prosperity. Disciples in the Prayer Ministry will be dispersed in various areas of the sanctuary in prayer, also. All present at 8:20 will be asked to join for a closing prayer at the altar.

A Culture of Prayer
It is the vision of Pastor Stephens to develop and maintain a culture of prayer at White Rock Baptist Church. This church-wide culture includes a set of shared prayer-related attitudes, values, goals, and practices derived from the Holy Bible that characterizes the disciples of Jesus. A guiding Scripture is “…My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.” (Mark11:17 NIV). Pray first!

Prayer Ministry’s Goal
The Prayer Ministry is charged by Pastor Stephens to help advance and sustain a culture of prayer at White Rock Baptist Church. The Prayer Ministry serves to ignite a commitment, provide guidance, and sustain a delight for prayer within the congregational life and ministries of WRBC. This support is for all kinds of private and public prayers – adoration, confession, thanksgiving and supplication (petition and intercession).

Prayer Kneelers
Prayer is a primary ministry. Our prayer kneelers are placed around the altar for use by anyone for private prayer any day or evening of the week when the church is open. All are welcome to use these kneelers in a sacred prayer place, the altar.

Prayer Path
“Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” (Psalm 100:4). Your journey through His gates begins as you enter our Prayer Path from the rear parking lot, on the cemetery side of the church. The path was specially designed by our Pastor several years ago to inspire worshipers to begin their prayers of thanksgiving and praise as they prepare to enter the sanctuary through the front entrance to the church.

Do you have a heart for prayer? Would you like to be a part of the Prayer Ministry? Use this link to contact ministry chairperson, Sister Trannie Meekins, if you have a passion or “heart for prayer,” have earnestly prayed about your commitment to this ministry, and believe the Spirit is directing you to be an intercessor and an active part of this ministry. Our business meeting which includes prayer is scheduled monthly on the third Saturday at 9:00 a.m.

Objectives of the Prayer Ministry include:

 

• Study Scriptures and obey the Holy Spirit to pray to God first and without ceasing, both individually and jointly.
• Encourage filling of the Holy Spirit for power, praising God and witnessing.
• Receive church-wide prayer requests and intercede.
• Partner with the diaconate to facilitate prayer meetings and needs.
• Plan, implement and evaluate intercessory prayer and fasting for specific needs, an annual prayer retreat, revival, prayer education, training events, and holiday observations.
• Assist church ministries with their prayer leadership and areas of concern.
• Write newsletter articles and distribute literature to encourage prayer.
• Teach and review the biblical history of prayer in the church.
• Periodically evaluate our progress in being intercessors.
• Learn from local, regional, state, national, and international prayer events.
• Nurture a team of disciples who believe they have been called as intercessors to provide guidance for a prayer-driven church focused on witnessing, worshipping and working.

Prayer Guides: All disciples of White Rock are asked to pray continually for our Pastor as well as leaders and disciples of each ministry. The Prayer Guides attached below provide suggestions for scripture-led prayers.

18 THINGS TO PRAY FOR YOUR CHURCH

1. That we would have unity amid diversity.
2. That a culture of discipling would form.
3. That faithful leaders would use Scripture to train members to do the work of ministry.
4. That a  hunger for studying the gospel would form.
5. That transparent, meaningful relationships would become normal.
6. The preaching of God’s Word—that it would be biblically careful and Holy Spirit imbued.
7. That leaders would remain above reproach, resist temptation, complacency, idols, and worldliness.
8. That the church’s songs would teach members to biblically confess, lament, and praise.
9. That the church’s prayers would be infused with biblical ambitions, honesty, and humility.
10. That adult members would work to disciple teenagers and not just leave it to programming.
11. That the church’s primary teachers grow in dedication to God’s Word.
12. That it would grow in being distinct from the world in love and holiness.
13. That members would share the gospel this week—and see more conversions!
14. That members would be prepared for persecution, even to love, not curse, their persecutors.
15. That hopes for political change would be outstretched by the hope of heaven.
16. That giving would be faithful , as well as joyful, consistent, and sacrificial.
17. That more members would use their careers to take the gospel to places it’s never been.
18. That members would be good and do good in their workplaces this week.

There is no greater gift we can give our pastor and the spiritual leaders of our church than to pray for them. White Rock is a praying church and has an active and continuous prayer ministry.  We will be happy to pray for you, and you can rest assured that your request will be handled confidentially. The Prayer Ministry, members of the Ministry of Deacons & Deaconesses, and others intercede for requests received.  Intercession is a request on behalf of others. Jesus is our example: “Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them” (Hebrews 7:25 NIV).

If you need prayer or know someone who is in need of prayer, inform us by one of these means. All prayer requests will be handled confidentially:

1. Join us at one of our weekly Wednesday prayer services, at noon or 6:00 p.m.
2. Share with our Pastor, ministerial staff, office staff, ministry leaders, or other White Rock disciples
3. Submit a written request using the locked prayer box outside the library or the prayer box on the table in the vestibule (forms are provided)
4. Or, complete the following information to submit a prayer request online
