Service Opportunities
The Religious Coalition for a Nonviolent Durham is seeking volunteers for its Homicide Prayer Partners (HPP) ministry. HPP started in April 2004 as a response to, and outreach mechanism for Durham's Annual Vigil Against Violence.
HPP is a Christian ministry in which a trained volunteer serves as long-term prayer partner, on a weekly basis, for someone who has lost a family member or friend to homicide. HPP volunteers receive training to offer one-on-one support in a skillful, trustworthy, caring and confidential manner.
We invite you to attend an information session on Saturday, April 30, from 10:00-11:00 am at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 2317 Chapel Hill Rd, Durham (corner of Chapel Hill Rd and Huron St). Training will take place on two consecutive Saturdays, May 7 and 14, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm (volunteers will need to attend both sessions).
